Eat more chicken!!

                                                   The first completed chicken coop!!!

As of today, August 15, 2012, four chicken coops have been completed!  The families are so excited to see progress for their new capital venture taking shape.  The first baby chicks, just one day old, are set to arrive on August 25.  The other six chicken coops will need to be completed before then.

The second chicken coop.  Dad is off helping build another chicken coop.

Exciting news!!  The week after August 25, we will begin the process all over with 14 new families.  Thank you to our loving Heavenly Father, GVCM, Kore Foundation, Fish Ministries, and the Kellogg Foundation for partnering with our family in helping bring jobs to these Haitian families.  Providing food lasts for one meal, but self-sustainability lasts a lifetime!

The third chicken coop.

Thank you to all of our prayer and financial supporters!! This was not part of our original plan, but God knew that you would not only be bringing the joy of God's Word to this area through the radio and library, but also be helping these Christian families provide food for their families.
Do you want to learn about sponsoring a chicken coop family?
A $3,000 donation will provide a chicken coop for one family, which will then be reinvested in another family once that loan is paid off.
For details and more information, contact Kevin Bolin at kevinbolin@cten.org

English classes have started, and I am very busy!  I am teaching 4 classes each day to the orphans, 2 classes each day to the youth in the church, and a class using the Book of John each Tuesday night.  What a joy it is to teach a new language!!  So thankful to some teachers from Weatherford that donated some phonics readers, and David Malaska for donating English books from McGraw Hill!

We have had several meetings for Haitians to get chicken coops.  This is in cooperation with Core and Fish Ministries.  Some of the chicken coops are supposed to be getting built this week.  Each person is given a loan of $3,000 US, but they don't actually receive the money.  They receive a chicken coop, education, help building the coop, 200 chickens every 6-7 weeks, feed, and immunizations for the chickens.  We are hoping this will help many families that need help feeding their family!

The library furniture is looking amazing!!  Check out how great these book shelves look!

                                                          The area for the adults.

Jakob and Anderson, our neighbor friends, looked very suave for their first communion.  They had a huge party to celebrate.

What an honor we had this past Saturday in driving Sheline's, our neighbor, wedding.  Of course, about 30 people tried to get in the back of the truck so we could drive them through town with them yelling and us honking.  We had to tell some people to get out because our tires were going flat!

This wedding lasted for 3 hours!!!

We are headed to Tennessee Friday, June 30th, and then Texas July 9.
We will be back in Haiti July 25.

Happenings in Haiti

Linda is telling this man that Jesus died for him.  He said that he is
not ready to accept Jesus, but we gave him a radio that will
continue to tell him about Christ.
Nikki telling people about Jesus and handing out solar radios that
are pre-tuned to Radio Vision Global 4VEN.

Our church posse!!  We are loaded up and headed to church!

Sweet Yolanda!!  This is Linda's one year old daughter.  We get to play with
her almost everyday!!

Kevin working in the radio station, surrounded by orphans!!

We delivered the first fifty solar radios!! What a joy it was to ask people if they listen to the radio, and to hear them say, "Wi, mwen tande Radio Vision Global!" "Yes, I listen to Radio Vision Global!" This station is making a positive impact in this community!! Several people recognized Nikki from his voice. He didn't really want people to know who he was, but too late, he is a star now! One lady ran up to us and said that she loved listening to the English show. I was so excited to hear her say that she listened to my show!

Faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of God. Romans 10:17

Lauren and I went to a neighbor's house to visit the other day. We were sitting on their rocky porch in the shade with about 10 children all around. They asked us if we cut our hair. Both Lauren and I said that yes we cut our hair. (This is all being said in creole, and I actually understood! :)). The women told us that God doesn't like for women to cut their hair. I aked them to show me in God's Word where it said that. I told them that I only follow God's Word. They shrugged their shoulders and just repeated that God doesn't like for women to cut their hair. I asked them if their pastor said that, and they said yes. I told them that their pastor is not God, and that God tells us what He does and does not like in the Bible. One woman said amen to that. Well, they weren't bringing out a Bible, so I went and got my English Bible and my Creole Bible, praying the whole time that God would reveal His truth. I found, "But every woman who has her head uncovered while praying or prophesying disgraces her head, for she is one and the same as the woman whose head is shaved. (1 Corinthianss 11:5 NASB). I asked her to read that verse in Creole. She shook her head and said no, that she doesn't know how to read. I was so shocked! She is about my age. The other woman is in her low thirties, and I asked her if she knew how to read. She also said no. They both said that is the reason they send their children to school, so they will know how to read. So, Anderson, one of the women's sons, read the chapter out loud to them. The struggle is that shaved is translated as cut in the creole version! I tried to explain that the word actually meant shaved like a man, but they just nodded their heads for the crazy American. That night I asked Kevin if the girls and I should not cut our hair so that we would be seen as obeying God's Word in their eyes. He said that he thought it would be okay for us to cut our hair. Whew! My hair is getting long!! Now we just need to get these women going to a Christian church to realize that God cares more about doing things out of love for Him than He cares about us following a list of do this and don't do that.
